When envisioning the future we often think of space-age gadgets like the holodeck, flying cars, and human shaped robots that aid with everyday chores, but what about the working world? University of Waterloo’s Master of Accounting student, Cindy Chan and Mario Vasilescu, Mechanical Engineering student from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology, had their own ideas when they won 1st place and $5000 for their vision of the future as part of the Focus 2040 competition.

Reinvented again - a practitioner’s view of management accounting

Dr. Peter Turney’s sabbatical at the University of Waterloo in 1983-4 triggered a personal journey of exploration and innovation in the field of management accounting, culminating in his selection as the 1992 Society of Management Accountant’s Distinguished Speaker of the Year. Now, as a practitioner, Dr. Turney returns to Waterloo to reflect on the changes in management accounting during the intervening twenty years.
