SAF Grads Excel in the 2018 CPA CFE Exam Results

SAF CPA students once again proves that Waterloo dominates in the area of accounting education. The 2018 CPA Common Final Exam (CFE) results showcases one of our own, Lawrence Qianyu Zhang (BAFM '18, MAcc '18), in capturing the coveted National Gold Medal, along with 15 other SAF graduates who were named to the National Honour Roll. Congratulations to all our SAF graduates to which we will be celebrating their successes at the SAF Annual Honour Roll Celebration event in late January.

Inventive startups win $130,000 at yesterday's 23rd staging of the University of Waterloo's Velocity Fund Finals (VFF). These companies developing bionic arms that learn, a new type of water treatment system, a scalable biological manufacturing platform, and a smart monitoring system for stream traps took home the top prizes.

Managing Climate and Carbon Risk in Investment Portfolios

Companies that fail to curb their carbon output may eventually face the consequences of asset devaluation and stock price depreciation, according to a new study out of the University of Waterloo.

The researchers further determined that the failure of companies within the emission-intensive sector to take carbon reduction actions could start negatively impacting the general stock market in as little as 10 years’ time.
