SAF student team wins 2014 CA$H Competition
by Patty Mah
The annual CA$H Competition, hosted by CPA Ontario, is a junior level Ontario-wide competition for first and second year undergraduates. The challenge not only tests technical knowledge, but "soft skills" as well — team-building qualities like communication, negotiation, abstract thinking, and time-management.
An investment simulation, the competition tested teams of 3 students with the goal of increasing their net worth and maintaining healthy relationships with other competing student teams.
Waterloo entered 4 teams with one team being victorious in the end. Thinisha Gunasekera, Katherine Chan, and Samantha Tjong, all first year AFM students took home $3,000 for their team with $1,500 being donated to their School's accounting and finance club.
