At the School of Accounting and Finance Accounting, Accounting and Financial Managment (AFM) co-op students must complete four work terms, four WatPD courses, and submit four satisfactory work term reflections.

The first work term reflection is completed through the WatPD course PD12 during the students first co-op work term. The remaining three reflections are to be completed through the Learn add-on PebblePad+, which can be accessed on their Learn Homepage taskbar or by following this pathway: Learn > My SAF Community > Content > Co-op and Career> Work Term Reflections and clicking on the folder called “PebblePad.” Further instructions on how to complete your reflection will be emailed to you halfway through the term by Victoria Salim.

Submission Deadline

With the exception of the students first work term reflection, which is submitted through PD12, reflections must be submitted by the end of the tenth day of classes in the academic term following the co-op work term. If a student is following the default AFM pathway, the submission deadlines would be as follows:

  • Work Term 2 (WT2): Fall Term – the reflection would be due on the tenth day of classes during the following Winter term.
  • Work Term 3 (WT3): Fall Term – the reflection would be due onthe tenth day of classes during the following Winter term.
  • Work Term 4 (WT4): Spring Term – the reflections would be due on the tenth day of classes during the following Fall term.

If a student is on an 8-month co-op work term, they are required to submit a reflection during the second term of their co-op. For example, if the 8-month work term is during their second and third work term in Winter and Fall, a reflection would be due  on the tenth day of classes in Spring for WT2 and tenth day pf classes in Fall for WT3.

WatPD Courses

Over the course of a students co-op experience, they must complete four professional development courses offered through the WatPD Program. These courses aim to enhance their professional skills and improve their employability by teaching them beneficial skills that co-op employers deem most valuable.  Two courses are mandatory, PD 1: Career Fundamentals and PD12: Reflection and Learning in the Workplace. PD1 must be taken during the Fall term of the students 2A term and PD12 must be taken while they are on their first co-op work term. The remaining two courses can be chosen from the remaining nine elective courses PD offeres and are to be taken on their second and third work term. The WatPd website has course descriptions for all PD courses along with a schedule for when the courses are offered to better help students choose their electives.
