Undergraduate Studies Academic Calendar

About the Undergraduate Studies Academic Calendar

The Undergraduate Studies Academic Calendar (the "Calendar") is the primary contractual document between undergraduate students and the University of Waterloo. Published annually in April, the Calendar provides information on curriculum, academic programs and plans, requirements and degrees, courses, and academic regulations. Students are advised that in addition to the Calendar, students' relationships with the University are governed by University Policies, guidelines, and academic regulations that are established by the University under its governing bodies.

Which Calendar to Follow for Requirements

Academic program and/or plan requirements listed in this Calendar apply to those students commencing their studies in their chosen academic plan during the 2024-2025 academic year. Students are normally governed by the requirements current for their academic plan at the time they commence studies in that academic plan, except when academic plan selection is required only after a specified period of registration (e.g., declaring a major at the end of first year). Students who select an academic plan within the time limits specified by the faculty will be governed by the requirements current in the term in which they entered the faculty.

When academic program and/or plan requirements change, a student may continue to be governed by the set of requirements as specified in the preceding paragraph or can elect to be governed by the new set of requirements, unless the faculty specifies otherwise when the change is introduced.

Prospective students or new registrants are advised to consult the most current information available from the University and its various faculties in printed or electronic form, as well as the Schedule of Classes and academic advisors before making decisions on registration, academic programs/plans, or courses.
