Science & Business: Earth Science program 2017 outline (Co-op)

Continuation in the Science and Business, Earth Sciences Specialization program requires a cumulative overall average of 65% and a cumulative Science average of 65%. Successful completion of this program requires:

1. 21.0 units distributed as follows:
   • 5.25 EARTH units: EARTH 121, EARTH 121L, EARTH 123, EARTH 221, EARTH 231, EARTH 232, EARTH 235, EARTH 238, EARTH 260, EARTH 359, and EARTH 390
   • 1.5 EARTH elective units with the following conditions:
     • 0.5 unit must be at a 300-level or higher
   • 1.5 CHEM units: CHEM 120, CHEM 120L, CHEM 123, and CHEM 123L
   • 1.25 PHYS units: PHYS 111, PHYS 111L, and PHYS 112
   • 1.5 AFM units: AFM 123, AFM 131, and AFM 231
   • 3.5 ECON units: ECON 101, ECON 102, ECON 201, ECON 221, ECON 255, ECON 344, and ECON 371
   • 1.0 MATH unit: MATH 127 and MATH 128
   • 0.5 CS unit: CS 100
   • 3.0 SCBUS units: SCBUS 122, SCBUS 123, SCBUS 223, SCBUS 225, SCBUS 323, and SCBUS 423
   • 0.5 Program elective unit chosen from: ACTSC 231, ECON 211, ECON 220, ECON 361, ECON 372, HRM 200, HRM 301, MSCI 311, MSCI 432, STAT 231, and STAT 333
   • 1.0 EARTH (300-level or higher) elective or Program elective unit
   • 0.5 elective units, any subject

Additional Program Conditions:

1. A maximum of 2.0 failed units is permitted.
2. Normally, a maximum of 3.0 SCBUS units is permitted.

Notes

1. HRM 200 and MSCI 311 are recommended Program electives.
2. Alternative Program electives may be substituted with permission from the program advisor.
3. Students can emphasize finance in this program by selecting STAT 231, STAT 333, ACTSC 231, or ECON 372, or by substituting STAT 230 or ACTSC 446 as Program electives.
4. EARTH electives include EARTH 436A and EARTH 436B, Honours Thesis courses, with permission from the program advisor and consent from the Faculty.
5. Year Four EARTH electives allow students to focus their studies in areas of Geology, Geophysics or Hydrogeology. Students should refer to course requirements for these specializations within Earth and Environmental Sciences programs to guide their elective choices.
6. Students interested in selecting courses to fulfill the knowledge based requirements for membership in the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario (APGO) may need to substitute certain required courses. Substitution can only be done with approval from the program advisor.
