Award criteria

The Faculty of Science established the Young Alumni Award to honour and recognize significant service, contribution and achievements of young alumni. This award is bestowed upon alumni who demonstrate significant contribution(s) in one or more of the following areas:

  • Professional or Academic Achievement: recognizes the accomplishments of Waterloo Science alumni relating to career success, significant recognition, leadership or advisory roles, and visible success beyond industry segment
  • Contributions to Community: recognizes the accomplishments of Waterloo Science alumni in volunteer leadership, humanitarian endeavours, and proven impact within community and public service

The nominees must hold UW Science undergraduate and/or graduate degree(s). Only those nominees who are 40 years of age or younger will be considered.

Nomination process

The Faculty of Science welcomes nominations for the Young Alumni Award from alumni, students, staff, retirees and members of the public.

To nominate an alumnus for the Young Alumni Award, a short online nomination form must be completed for an individual to be considered.


Nomination deadline: April 30.
