The third floor of ESC open corridor (from EIT bridge to B1) is closed. The Physics building main stairwell and office wing on both second and third floors will be closed until necessary repairs to the main stairwell are completed. Physics administrative offices will re-open on Monday, June 11 in PHY 345.

Abstract

This December the Nobel prize will be awarded for the direct detection of gravitational waves two years ago. This capped off a century of controversy over their existence, ranging from questions about their nature, tantalizing clues of their influence, and dubious claims of detection.

The Department of Physics and Astronomy, as part of the HeForShe IMPACT 10x10x10 campaign, is hosting 125 students in Grades 7 and 8 for free hands-on activity workshops, inspiring talks, and a panel discussion, to encourage and engage girls in exploring physics.
