Rodolphe Barrangou headshotGrade 11 and 12 Biology teachers, bring your class to the University of Waterloo on October 25, 2016 to hear Dr. Rodolphe Barrangou, Canada Gairdner Award Winner, speak about his career and research in “establishing and characterizing CRISPR-Cas bacterial immune defense system”.

In addition to Dr. Barrangou's talk and a brief background and summary of his research by current Waterloo Science student, past iGEM team member and Velocity Science entrepreneur Steven ten Holder, your students can also:

  • participate in a 90-minute workshop in which they will learn to micro-pipette and load a gel for electrophoresis
  • tour the Science buildings on campus
  • learn about Science programs from our recruitment coordinator and current Science students

Students learn to use micro-pipetteWe would be happy to create a schedule that fits your timing requirements. Dr. Barrangou's lecture itself is fixed and will take place from 11:00-11:45am.
