The Let’s Talk Science Challenge is a competition that is run across Canada by various Let’s Talk Science sites, spearheaded by the Let’s Talk Science National Office.
This year Waterloo will be welcoming 230 grade 6-8 students from 20 local schools to join us in a fun day of science challenges.
In the morning they take part in a design challenge where they are given a box of supplies and must design a mystery creation within a time frame. They don’t find out what they have to build until the challenge starts and they open their boxes of supplies.
Over lunch, students are invited to participate in a number of fun, hands on science activities.
After lunch we move on to the quiz show portion of the day, where the students compete in a game show-esque setting using knowledge they've learned from the Let's Talk Science Challenge Manual.
Prizes are awarded to students with the most points but also with the most spirit.
Staff and student volunteers for a variety of roles (including judging) are needed. If you are able to help, please fill out this online form.
