Public Lecture: Hydraulic fracturing - a natural and industrial processExport this event to calendar

Monday, March 23, 2015 — 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM EDT

Prof. Steve Evans and Prof. Maurice Dusseault will be taking you through the extensive history of hydraulic fracturing (HF).

Professor Steve Evans

Prof. Evans will start off with a focus on natural examples of HF that occur in the world around you, from the eruption of the Eyjafjallajökull volcano in Iceland to the emplacement of gold containing quartz veins.

Prof. Maurice Dusseault

Having obtained an understanding of these natural processes, Prof. Dusseault will then take you through the history of HF as an industrial process with uses ranging from biosolid injection to the development of oil and gas in Canada.
