Application status

How do I check the status of my application?

When in Quest, applicants can click the Documents tab to ensure all required application material has been submitted correctly. If your application is complete, your status will be listed as “Application” while it is in the process of being reviewed. 

What is the timeline for a decision notice?

We understand that you are eager to obtain an admission decision.  Our goal is to issue a decision within approximately 10 - 12 weeks of the admit term’s application deadline.  However, the time required for us to complete our review process and make decisions may vary depending on the circumstance or volume of applications at that time.  We ask that you defer from contacting us for an update on your application status until at least 12 weeks after the application deadline for the term for which you have applied for admission. 

If, upon review of your application, we discover that information is missing, unclear, or incomplete, a member of the admissions team will contact you. 

If you have applied to a research program (MSc or PhD program), then a faculty member must be willing to act as your supervisor in order for you to receive an offer of admission.  Your application file will be made available to all faculty members who are affiliated with the program to which you have applied.  They can access and review all of your application documentation and can contact you to interview you or to speak to you about their research group (note this is not something that all faculty members do before deciding to make an offer to an applicant).

How will I be notified of the decision?

Once an admission decision has been made, applicants will receive a decision e-mail to the account provided in their application. Successful applicants will receive an electronic offer of admission letter. Applicants are able to review, make a decision and print the letter using Quest. What are the deadlines to apply for programs within the Faculty of Science?

Master of Science (MSc) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Chemistry, Earth Science, Pharmacy, and Vision Science:

  • February 1st (Fall Term)  
  • June 1st (Winter Term) 
  • October 1st (Spring Term) 

Master of Science (MSc) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biology:

  • February 1st (Fall Term)  
  • July 1st (Winter Term) 
  • October 1st (Spring Term) 

Master of Science (MSc) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Physics:

  • January 9th (Fall Term)  
  • June 1st (Winter Term) 
  • October 1st (Spring Term)
