Biology Alumnus turns Brewmaster

Innocente beer lineup

Steve Innocente (BSc ’96) thought he was going to going to be a professor with his own research lab but instead he opened his own brewery.

He combined his education in molecular biology and love for hops to create Innocente Brewing Company - a microbrewery producing hand-crafted beer in the Waterloo Region.

Science HeForShe Impact Scholarship winners arrive at Waterloo

Six young women entering STEM disciplines in science, technology, engineering and mathematics will begin their studies this year with a $12,000 HeForShe IMPACT Scholarship from the University of Waterloo.

Science CERCs David Cory and Philippe Van Cappellen named Fellows of the Royal Society of Canada

Today, both of Science's Canada Excellence Research Chairs, David Cory and Philippe Van Cappellen, have been named Fellows of the Royal Society of Canada and inducted into the Academy of Science.

Election to the academies of the Royal Society of Canada is the highest honour a scholar can achieve in the Arts, Humanities and Sciences.
