Tadeusz Górecki
Chemistry Professor Tadeusz Górecki will be going on sabbatical next year thanks to funding from a 2019 Marie Curie Global Fellowship.

Sponsored by the European Commission, the prestigious Global Fellowship program funds positions outside Europe for researchers based in the EU or associated countries, such as Canada.

Górecki will be spending his sabbatical at the University of Ghent in Belgium, where he hopes to apply his expertise in multi-dimensional separations to characterize protein biopharmaceuticals at the protein level. This topic is rapidly gaining importance in the light of the explosive growth of protein therapeutics in the pharmaceutical market. Proper characterization of these proteins is critical at all stages of drug development and manufacturing.

Górecki is known internationally for his improvements to two dimensional chromatography, a more sensitive, two-step version of gas chromatography that allows researchers to fully resolve analyte peaks in messy environmental and biological samples.

He received the Polish Academy of Sciences Medal in 2016 as well as the GCxGC Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017.

Congratulations Tadeusz and we wish you a wonderful sabbatical!
