WatSolve held a LinkedIn Learning Workshop for Waterloo students this past January. The professional development workshop was hosted in partnership with CECA.

Founded in 2017, WatSolve Consulting Group is a multi-disciplinary, pro-bono management consulting group within the Science and Business Program. A team of undergraduate Science and Business students provide consulting services to science and technology-based businesses of all sizes: from entrepreneurs, to start-ups, non-profits and enterprises.

About 30 students participated and also had the opportunity to meet WatSolve mediators and members as well as learn more about the organization.

The event focused on teaching students how to take advantage of LinkedIn Learning – a platform that offers video courses taught by industry experts in software, creative and business.

The workshop helped students sharpen their business skills by taking courses such as Customer Service Training, Excel and Accounting Practices, Marketing Courses and more. Participants learned about what the platforms offer as well as a live demonstration on how to use them.

The lead for the event, Tori Popowich, found hosting the workshop also expanded her skill set.

“Through organizing WatSolve’s LinkedIn Learning workshop, I connected with professors, career advisors and caters,” said Popowich. “Overall, I learned to build professional relationships during this process. It really helped me learn how to expand my personal network and it continues to expand today.”

WatSolve’s goal is to provide students like Tori with valuable experiential learning opportunities. Students in the Science and Business program who are interested in joining the WatSolve team should check the group’s LinkedIn and Facebook pages on September 1st, 2020 for more information regarding recruitment.
