Eric - Mathematical Physics

Science Ambassador

Eric

Year: 3

Stream of study: Co-op

Career goal: Still working on that! I'm using my co-op positions to determine whether I want to focus on math or physics.

Favourite food: Gyros

How I get involved: Besides being an ambassador, I've played intramural Ultimate Frisbee in the past while on school terms. While on co-op, I've joined Ultimate Frisbee teams in Ottawa. For my upcoming Winter co-op term, I hope to join a ski club, so that I can enjoy the slopes while I have the time!

Why I love my program

The best part about Math Phys is, as the name implies, being able to take more math-heavy, theoretical courses while learning about the natural world through physics.  I was drawn to this program by its emphasis on theory, and it's this focus that keeps me interested in learning. If you like math and science equally, it’s the program for you!

Why University of Waterloo?

I chose UWaterloo for the opportunities given by the co-op program in addition to it’s reputation for mathematics. It’s affiliations with institutions for physics research (the Institute for Quantum Computing and the Perimeter Institute) also appealed to me as a student of this discipline. Finally, I felt like someone with my personality and interests would fit in at UWaterloo.  I am now pleased to say that there is no other university where I’d feel more welcome.
