Jackie - Biomedical Science

Science Ambassador

Jackie

Year: 2

Stream of study: Regular

Career goal: I plan on going to the School of Pharmacy here at UWaterloo, so I can help people in a medical setting without all the blood and guts of being a doctor!

Favourite food: Iced Coffee!

How I get involved: Let's Talk Science volunteer and I'm part of the UW Pre-Pharmacy club. I was also involved in past Open Houses through giving tours of my residence room in REV.

Why I love my program

I love the Biomedical Sciences program because it prepares me to apply to professional schools in as little time as possible. The required courses cover a wide variety of science skills and you are able to take electives beginning your first semester, making it easy to complete all the requirements for different professional schools. Since the program is structured with so many electives, tons of different minors are possible and you are able to explore interests outside of the faculty of science, allowing you to customize your degree. It's also one of the bigger science programs at Waterloo, meaning you'll get to meet so many people with the same interests as you!

Why University of Waterloo?

I was originally interested in UWaterloo because of the School of Pharmacy, but once I visited campus I fell in love with the supportive atmosphere curated for innovation and academic growth. The University of Waterloo provides so many oppurtunities to meet like-minded peers and to connect with professors, who will enrich your university experience through their knowledge and passion.
