Jane - Environmental Science

Science Ambassador

Jane holding a frying pan in her left hand while pretending to drink out of a ladle she is holding in her left handYear: 4

Stream of study: Co-op

Specialization: Geoscience

Career goal:  My career goal is to be involved in environmental science research either via an academic, government, or industry route

Favourite food:  My favourite food is sushi, especially sashimi!

How I get involved: I try to be part of at least 1 commited extra curricular each term as I really like having the sense of community outside of classes. In the past I've been a volunteer with campus compost (the student led composting initiative on campus), worked at the front desk in the student residences, and mentored new international students

Why I love my program

I love my program because of the flexibility to pursue my interests! Being in Geoscience I have a lot more electives than any other earth science or environmental science degree. I get to choose courses in the areas of science that I want to focus in. And the course flexibility also allows me to be flexible with minors, coop sequences, etc if I choose to do so.

Why University of Waterloo?

I chose Waterloo for 1 reason: coop, this has been so valuable to learning about what I enjoy and what I want to do in the future, as well as making connections with people involved in the work I want to do.
