Jessica - Pharmacy

Science Ambassador

Year: 2

Stream of study: Co-op

Career goal: I would love to be in hospital pharmacy, but there's lots of time and opportunities to try other pharmacy pathways between now and the end of my degree.

Favourite food: Anything spicy!

How I get involved: To begin, I am a proud science ambassador! During my first two years on main campus, I have been a volunteer with Let's Talk Science, Science Outreach, and FEDS (University of Waterloo's Federation of Students). I have been a front line leader during orientation week, cheering on those incoming first years. I was a mentor for the Science Student Help Team during my 2B term. Since joining the School of Pharmacy, I have been a volunteer with CAN (Community Action Now), a mentor with RxPRN (an online support group for pharmacy students), and an ambassador for the School of Pharmacy.

Why I love my program

I love my program because it combines my passion for healthcare, science, and technology. Pharmacy is also a fast evolving field where there are constant developments and the School of Pharmacy does a fantastic job of preparing us for the future.

Why University of Waterloo?

I loved with tight-knit community of the science faculty. Despite being a very large faculty, there was always familiar faces. Moving from main campus to the School of Pharmacy was difficult but I still felt that sense of friendliness and belonging when arriving at the new school. Waterloo's commitment to co-op and getting students ready to work in their fields is also an important aspect for me.
