Undergraduate Student Representative to Board of Governors

Fred Chereshski, Faculty of Environment

I was elected to be the Undergraduate Senator to the Environment Faculty in May 2018. I also held a position on the Senate Finance Committee later that year. These collective experiences have put me in touch with both students and staff across campus and assisted me in developing a strong ability to communicate with others, build consensus, and advocate for the needs of students in the University. I hope to bring my abilities and experience along with my passion for the University’s student body, toward serving their needs on the Board of Governors.

SabrinaKhandakar, Faculty of Arts

My priority is to provide more active governance. All students should understand that they have representation on an institutional level, who can bring their voices to the table.  In order to have a more engaged constituency Senators and Governors need to be easily accessible. As Senator at-large its my responsibility to listen to students from all faculties and backgrounds to understand their concerns and how we can address them. To fulfil that duty we need to develop a feedback loop between students and their elected representation, and this vision will be even more valuable if extended to the Board of Governors.

Jason Small, Faculty of Engineering

Jason Small is an incoming undergraduate senator studying Systems Design Engineering. He has served for the last two years as a Feds councillor and has held various roles with the Engineering Society. Through his experiences, he has gained exposure to a wide range of student perspectives as well as an understanding of how to balance desires with budgetary and other constraints. He hopes to bring these perspectives to effectively represent students on the Board of Governors while maintaining open lines of communication with both students and relevant stakeholders.
