The 2017 competition is now closed.

Thanks to the generous sponsorship support of Chadwick Optical Inc., Optelec Canada, and Brook and Braddock Opticians we are pleased to offer Conference Awards to financially assist students and residents to attend the inaugural CIVRC 2017. Successful applicants will be offered complimentary full registration and up to $350.00 towards travel and accommodation expenses.

Students, interns, and residents from any discipline who are interested in low vision rehabilitation may apply.

Application Requirements

  • Completed Conference Award application form

  • Statement indicating your interest and commitment to low vision rehabilitation (maximum 300 words)

  • Recommendation letter from academic instructor or clinical supervisor

  • CV (Resume)

  • Budget – Registration cost is automatically awarded so only include anticipated other costs such as travel, accommodation and meals. It is anticipated that students and residents studying in Waterloo Region will not require travel support. However, if there are exceptional circumstances that would require a local student or resident to request additional support, those circumstances will be considered. Applicants should note the exceptional circumstance in the budget. All applications will be ranked by the committee based on merit and need. Travel expenses will be reimbursed according to University of Waterloo travel guidelines.

January 16, 2017, no later than 11:59 p.m. EST

Completed submissions should be e-mailed to Kristin Snell.

Award Notice

All applicants will be notified of the committee’s decision by February 17, 2017. Successful applicants will be recognized publicly at the conference and in the conference program.
