When you take required courses for the Social Development Studies major can depend on your method of entry into the program and whether you choose to pursue the co-op plan. Below are general recommendations to ensure students interested in Honours Arts Co-op (HAC) achieve a solid SDS framework by the end of their 2B term. Some flexibility may be allowed, depending on individual sequences and a student’s goals.

This should be considered a guideline only - please see your academic advisor to solidify the best options for you.

NOTES:
  • 1ARBUS students should have their 2B academic term over spring when most SDS courses are online. HAC and Regular stream students should reach 2B by their second winter term.
  • Students must take both ARTS 130 and 140 in their first year. The order in which they are taken does not matter.
  • The Honours SDS major is a minimum of 16 courses, combining 8 foundation and 8 elective options.
  • “Elective” spaces in first year are a good opportunity to try courses towards potential double-majors or minors. Students may wish to also take any remaining Arts Breadth courses or SDS electives (see the SDS Course List)
