Allison Chenier selected as 2016 Warren Ober Award recipient

Sociology's Allison Chenier has been awarded the 2016 Warren Ober Award for Outstanding Teaching by Graduate Students Within the Faculty of Arts.  

The award recognizes the importance of teaching in the activity of the Faculty of Arts. The Faculty and the Department commend Allison on outstanding teaching, talent and dedication to her students and her discipline. 

Congratulations, Allison and thank you for your contributions to the academic development of our undergraduate students.

Congratulations Alumnus David Hoffman!

Alumni David Hofmann has recently learned a fourth article has been accepted from the sandwich dissertation he did with the department (2016). This is a department first!

The dissertation has 5 chapters – including the introduction and the conclusion. When he defended two chapters had already been published by Studies in Conflict and Terrorism ( a leading journal), and one was submitted to the Journal of Strategic Studies – it was later published in 2016.

Lorne L. Dawson (Principle Investigator) 2017-2019 “Foreign Fighter Radicalization: Advanced Primary Data Acquisition and Analysis” (with A Amarasingam and D Ruths). Community Resilience Fund, Public Safety Canada, $256,950.46.

Dr. Kate Henne awarded research grant, Australian Research Council - $357,000 AUD

Kate is the principal and sole investigator on this grant which is entitled: Tackling a Silent Epidemic: Traumatic Brain Injury and Regulatory Science. It is a three-year research grant from the Australian Research Council in the amount of 357,000 AUD.
