McMaster University cut 20 jobs last week, and has confirmed that 30-70 more will be lost mainly from service areas. This appears to be the first steps they’re taking to battle a projected $40 million deficit. Full Story. They’re trying to make the cuts without damaging the quality of education and research – that’s why the focus of the cuts is mainly from service areas. It’s a shame that student services and the experiences students have outside the classroom while at university aren’t seen as a valuable part of their education.
