Merry, Merry!
We may have all been wearing masks, but the smiles came through in everyone's eyes at the 31st annual Winterfest, held on December 6. A huge shout-out to the staff at Columbia Icefield and the Safety Office for helping to provide a safe environment to meet with Santa, and have toys delivered directly down the chimney (well, trunks actually). Many thanks to the dedicated—and often-times-shivering—volunteers, and Santa himself for making this day fun and festive, despite it taking place during a pandemic. Fantastic day to kick off the holiday season!

I wanted to send a quick note to say thank you for organizing the Santa Drive-by yesterday! Our little guys is a huge Christmas enthusiast already. We didn’t tell him about the visit until we were about to leave home because we knew how excited he would be. Once we arrived and Santa came into view Jackson’s face lit up! He was thrilled to get to see and talk to Santa and to hand over his Santa letter. He was excited to go to daycare and share with his friends.
"Thank you for arranging the event so little ones could still see Santa, it was our only opportunity for a Santa visit this year given the malls are not holding Santa visits."
"I would like to Thank you for giving Bob the opportunity to be Santa again this year for Winterfest. Though it was very different and challenging for all, we appreciate all the hard work of the UW Staff Association's and Santa being able to participate! We had a lot of fun rocking to the Christmas tunes to keep warm! Congratulations to all! Merry Christmas to All and all the best for a happy, healthy 2021!"

I just wanted to follow up and say that I attended the drive by event and thought it was very well done. Both my boys thought it was amazing and they were so thrilled to see Santa (we left it as a surprise so they had no idea). It meant a lot to have this still happen as there are very limited options for seeing Santa this year.
Thanks for all the extra effort in making this a safe and fun event despite the circumstances this year! I’m really looking forward to future years and attending a skate with Santa again!
