head and shoulder of bill baerWilliam R. Baer

Hi, my name is Bill Baer and I’ve worked on campus for twenty-plus years. During my Engineering undergraduate years I was asked to volunteer with ESQ and realized I had a passion for outreach. This volunteer opportunity led to a contract position working with the two faculties. As ESQ manager I led a tenfold increase in enrollment and strengthened partnerships with staff, faculties and technology firms. ESQ’s success was a direct result of paying close attention to all stakeholders.

I later transitioned into Housing’s IS group. This provided me the opportunity to serve the needs of students and staff and contribute on two committees: STAC and CTSC.

I’m currently a Business Analyst within the IST department after transitioning from Housing. As a result I have firsthand experience on how complex these transitions can be and I’ve gained valuable experience supporting and advocating for staff as they navigate through change.

I've volunteered for numerous boards; Actua, Hildegard Marsden and Bread & Roses Co-Operative and served as Treasurer once and President twice.

This opportunity to be your President-Elect would provide you with a strong voice and advocate for all staff of the university. I will be able to leverage my diverse experience as an employee in various faculties, ancillary and support departments, as a strong team member and in various leadership roles. Most importantly I have a proven ability to bring better outcomes through collaboration and it would be an honor to represent you as President-Elect and help “be better together”.

head and shoulder of rose vogtRose Vogt

Rose Vogt has been a member of the Waterloo Community since 1977, when she was enrolled as a student in Faculty of Environment Studies.  In 1984 she was hired by the Federation of Students in the services sector, and since 1998 to present, (19 years) worked with the Graduate Student Association (GSA) as the Administrator/Graduate House Manager, and then General Manager.

Rose’s strengths in corporate management, relationship-building, and leadership provide a strong foundation from which to serve and advocate for Waterloo Staff.  Rose will work to ensure that the staff voice is heard and they continue to be acknowledged as an integral part of the greater Waterloo Community.

I hope to serve as the President-Elect, President, and Past President, to empower the staff, continue the work of the UWSA, and to support a robust employee-employer relationship at Waterloo.
