SUMMARY:Analyzing ordinal data with R
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:Many categorical response variables have a natural order to the
ir\nlevels. We refer to them as ordinal variable (data). This workshop\nwi
ll show participants how to estimate and make inferences about\nordinal da
ta through the proportional odds model. Topics covered in\nthis workshop i
ncludes introducing the proportional odds model\,\ndiscussing the model as
 sumptions\, interpretation of coefficients\,\nsignificance testing\, inter
actions between variables and the use and\ninterpretation of dummy variabl
es. Model checking methods such as\nresidual plots and goodness-of-fit tes
ts will also be covered. Several\nmethods for model selection will be incl
uded.\n\nRegistration is free and open to all University of Waterloo facu
lty\,\nstaff\, graduate and undergraduate students. The primary software w
e\nwill discuss in this seminar is RStudio. There is no hands-on work in\n
 this seminar.
