The University of Waterloo and the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science is pleased to announce the inaugural Academic-Industry Partnering Forum.
About:
This event will be on the topic of Data Science and Predictive Analytics, and how it relates to real problems in industry. The aim of this event is to connect researchers with industry partners and foster relationships and collaborate on projects that are of mutual interest.
In the morning, attending industry partners will be given an opportunity to present a short introduction of their company and a brief description of up to three Data Science and/or Predictive Analytics challenges they are facing.
During lunch, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE), and Mitacs will deliver a brief presentation regarding funding opportunities for projects undertaken by researchers and industry partners.
In the afternoon a “speed networking style” event will take place, where one-on-one meetings between researchers and industry partners to allow for a detailed conversation regarding possible projects they may be able to collaborate on.
