SUMMARY:Student Seminar by Chris Salahub\, PhD in Statistics
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:A STATISTICIAN'S INTRODUCTION TO GENOMICS\n\n------------------
-------\n\nA classical model of genetic association is introduced alongsid
e a\nshort history of its development with a particular focus on mouse\nmo
dels. The inferential consequences of the widespread use of mouse\nmodels
are discussed\, and the modern application of this model is\nintroduced as
a problem of measuring pairwise associations in a large\ndata set. A broa
d algebraic framework for this model and others like\nit is used to demons
trate several results and suggest future avenues\nof investigation.
