The University of Waterloo’s Master of Quantitative Finance (MQF) program was ranked in 2015 among the best masters programs in financial engineering in North America (a list that includes related programs at Carnegie Mellon University, City University of New York, Columbia University, University of California, New York University, University of Chicago, University of Toronto and Boston University).

Congratulations to Josephine Tay, awarded the K.D. Fryer Medal at convocation today. She graduated with a Bachelor of Mathematics Honours Actuarial Science/Finance Option and Statistics with an Economics Minor  co-operative degree.

Carole Bernard (UW) Steven Vanduffel (Brussels) and Jit Seng Chen (GGY Toronto) win an award for best paper.

The paper “Optimal Portfolios Under Worst Case Scenarios “ by Carole Bernard (UW) Steven Vanduffel (Brussels) and Jit Seng Chen (GGY Toronto) received the 2015 Redington Award by the Society of Actuaries as the best paper written by an actuary on an investment-related topic during the last couple of years.

Ryan Browne has received the 2015 Chikio Hayashi Award for Young Researchers

Ryan Browne has received the 2015 Chikio Hayashi Award for Young Researchers given by the International Federation of Classification Societies. The award is given to a promising researcher who started contributing to the domains of classification, data analysis and related areas, and who is in the early stages of their professional careers. The award is accompanied by a 1000 euros as support for travel, accommodation and conference costs for attending an IFCS conference.
