New funding for domestic students

Thursday, February 1, 2018

The Faculty of Mathematics and the University of Waterloo’s Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs have developed a new funding initiative for full-time domestic graduate students. Worth more than half a million dollars, this initiative will result in new scholarship opportunities for domestic* PhD students, as well as additional entrance and travel awards for domestic research Master’s students.

More precisely, the following new funding opportunities are being made available for full-time domestic students:

  • if you are a new doctoral student with an average of at least 80%, then you will be considered for a Mathematics Domestic Doctoral Scholarship (MDDS) worth at least $5,000 per year for up to 2 to 4 years.
  • if you are a new research Master’s student with average of at least 85% and do not hold a other major scholarship, then you are eligible for the $5,000 Domestic Masters Entrance Award (DMEA).
  • if you are a research Master’s student with an average of at least 85% and hold a major scholarship, then you are eligible for the $1,000 Domestic Master’s Travel Award (DMTA).
