The Department of Sociology and Legal Studies is pleased to present a lecture, "Truth and Reconciliation of Canada - Calls to Action." by Chief Wilton (Willie) Littlechild, commissioner of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, former Member of Parliament, and respected lawyer.

Chief Littlechild is a strong advocate for the rights of Indigenous Peoples and promoter of the implementation of the treaties between the Indigenous Peoples of Canada and the Crown.

The James E. Curtis Memorial Lecture, sponsored by the Department of Sociology and Legal Studies, is delivered annually by a distinguished Canadian scholar in honour of the life and work of Professor James Curtis. Professor Curtis spent his entire career at the University of Waterloo from 1970 until his untimely death on May 27, 2005.

A reception will follow the lecture.
