New International Development scholarships and Community Champion prize awarded

St. Paul’s introduced four International Development Continuing Scholarships this year, each valued at $10,000 over four years, and a Community Champion Award for a student who exemplifies the spirit and community of the College.

The incoming International Development students who won the four scholarships are Elisabeth Bruins, Cherie Wai, Calyssa Burke, and Valeria Cabrera Ortiz. The recipients were chosen based on their academic performance and demonstrated contributions to society.

Two GreenHouse alumnae win big bootcamp prizes for their startups

St. Paul’s GreenHouse alumna Renishaki Kamal (BA ‘14) won $25,000 for her venture, Fidget, winning second prize at the Communitech Women Entrepreneurs Bootcamp pitch competition this month, while alumna Rachel Thompson (BSc  ’15) received $2,500 for her venture, Marlena Books, from SoJo’s recent #SOCENT Idea Bootcamp.

St. Paul’s welcomes refugee student from Congo

Among the many new students who started classes at UWaterloo this fall is Leonard Honore, a refugee student from the Democratic Republic of Congo who is living at St. Paul’s. He is being sponsored through the University of Waterloo’s and World University Services of Canada’s (WUSC) Student Refugee Program.

St. Paul's partners with Centre for Community Based Research

St. Paul's University College is pleased to announce an affiliation with the Centre for Community Based Research (CCBR) to collaborate on research that contributes to community development. The CCBR is an organization based in Kitchener with 33 years of applied research and knowledge mobilization projects at the local, provincial, national, and international levels.
