Alana Westervelt wins inaugural Alex Foto Memorial Award

Fourth-year International Development student Alana Westervelt becomes the first recipient of an award that was set up to commemorate the humanitarian spirit of Alex Foto, a St. Paul’s student who passed away suddenly in the summer of 2014.

St. Paul’s is first residence to offer gender-neutral washrooms

As part of a recent upgrade to its East Wing washrooms, St. Paul’s has converted all the single-sex washrooms into gender-neutral individual cubicles with private shower, sink, and toilet.

Each floor on the East Wing now has several cubicles, as well as a common area with a sink and vanity countertop. These washrooms are open at all times and no special arrangements are needed to use them.

WAEC's Shawn Johnston wins anti-racism award

Shawn Johnston, Events Coordinator at the Waterloo Aboriginal Education Centre, has received a 2016 J.S. Woodsworth Award (Individual Leadership) for his work on anti-racism, awarded by the provincial New Democratic Party.
