Elizabeth FLetcher

The St. Paul’s Student Life Department is pleased to announce that Elizabeth Fletcher, our Residence Life Coordinator, is this year’s recipient of the Ontario Association of College and University Housing Officers (OACUHO) President’s Award.

The OACUHO President’s Award is presented to someone who continuously demonstrates a motivating and supportive work ethic and goes out of their way to have a positive impact on the people they interact with. They also, on a regular basis, go above and beyond their daily job description. These are both attributes that Elizabeth has demonstrated over the past 4+ years as the Residence Life Coordinator.

Elizabeth works tirelessly to ensure our residence community is a safe and respectful place for students, staff and visitors. She implements conduct and wellness initiatives within Residence to make sure our students feel supported and are continuously learning. She is an incredible leader, advisor and supervisor for our Residence Don team, Living Learning Community Programs and Peer Leaders. Elizabeth runs events and community engagement opportunities for our current students to continue to build relationships with each other. She also acts as a liaison and recruiter for future students to grow our St. Paul’s community, whether that is through social media or in-person/virtual tours of our facilities. In her free time, Elizabeth presents the SafeTalk program for departments across the University of Waterloo campus. This program works to ensure communities are alert to the possibility of suicide and teaches staff how they can support others through crisis. Elizabeth contributes to staff culture and continually brings people together – usually through reality TV  competitions and celebrations of team achievements!

Elizabeth is a kind and welcoming presence for students and staff at St. Paul’s as she always goes above and beyond to make sure people feel included and are enjoying their experience. Elizabeth has been an important member of the St. Paul’s community for over 8 years and we are proud to have her as a part of our community.

Thank you – this is really exciting as there are so many incredible people who work in housing and student services in Ontario so I am flattered. This award is special to me as I feel like we get a lot of attention in this field when things aren’t going well but forget to celebrate when things are good. This is a reminder to me to celebrate the everyday success we have as a community. Thank you to my trusted colleagues Steve and Beth – you keep me grounded and accountable; hopefully for many more years to come.

Congratulations on your award, Elizabeth - it is well deserved!
