New International Development scholarships and Community Champion prize awarded

Monday, October 19, 2015

St. Paul’s introduced four International Development Continuing Scholarships this year, each valued at $10,000 over four years, and a Community Champion Award for a student who exemplifies the spirit and community of the College.

The incoming International Development students who won the four scholarships are Elisabeth Bruins, Cherie Wai, Calyssa Burke, and Valeria Cabrera Ortiz. The recipients were chosen based on their academic performance and demonstrated contributions to society.

Connor Bradey, a third-year Environment and Resource (Coop option) student, is the first Community Champion at St. Paul's. Sonya Oetterich, this year's Community Coordinator, nominated him, saying:

"I think he played a large part in bringing the community together and spreading positivity. As an upper-year student, he is super involved in supporting move-in day, St. Paul's O-week, and plays a key role in Environment orientation. He does a great job of supporting and engaging with students, as well as supporting Dons in executing events."

The five students received their awards at the Principal's Reception in October. Congratulations to them all!
