Unit types and facilities

Detail of room layout

The floor plans and photos page is designed to give you a good idea of apartments, suites, and private rooms available in the St. Paul's Graduate Apartments Building. It is possible to come and see the building if you arrange this with us in advance, but be aware that we may be unable to show individual units as they are usually occupied.

Suites

Suites are shared accommodations available to single students.

Suite units are furnished with bedroom and lounge furniture. The kitchen has a table and chairs, stove, fridge and microwave. All suites are air conditioned.

Two- and three-bedroom suites have separate bedrooms, a shared bathroom and kitchen, and a shared lounge.

Economy suites have separate bedrooms, a shared bathroom and a shared kitchen.

Suites provide a unique opportunity for you to live closely with people from all over the world, from all areas of study, and at different levels of study. You will be placed in a suite with one or two other students, and you may make friend requests.

Private rooms

We have a limited number of private rooms, which include a three-piece bathroom, double bed, desk, dresser/wardrobe, microwave, and mini-fridge. These are great for single students who want their own private space on campus.

If you like to cook, you will have access to the kitchen on the fifth floor of the Grad Building, or you may opt to get a meal plan or declining balance card. Of course, you have access to all the amenities in the Building as well.

Apartments

Apartments are available to graduate students, post-doctoral fellows and visiting professors at the University of Waterloo who have families or dependents.

All apartments are air conditioned and have private bathrooms and kitchen facilities.

Apartments include a stove, fridge, and microwave but are otherwise unfurnished. A limited amount of furniture is available for rent.

Common areas

The Graduate Apartments Building at St. Paul's was designed to promote community. There are lots of places in the building available for use by all tenants, including:

  • rooftop patio lounge,
  • fitness and large screen television room,
  • games room, and
  • laundry facilities.

The main St. Paul's building also has a dining facility that tenants are welcome to use on a pay-as-you-eat basis. Alternatively, tenants may purchase a meal plan or declining balance card.

Notes

  • If you have living practices or restrictions that would not allow you to share a suite comfortably with someone with other practices, we recommend that you do not apply for Suites. Shared suite living is not suitable for everyone.
  • Room changes within the building can only be made at the end of a term and only when vacancies allow a move. A fee of $500 applies.
  • The Grad Building at St. Paul's is a shared community. It is recommended that you review tenant expectations before applying.
  • Please note that the Grad Building is a smoke-free facility. Smoking is not permitted in your unit or in any other part of the building.
