You asked for it, we got it! There are now single-sided printer queues on uPrint for the Stratford Campus. Once you are in uPrint and on the "Choose a Printer" page, look for mediaprint2\smc-print1-clr-s-s (Colour Single Sided) and mediaprint2\smc-print1-bw-s-s (Black and White Single Sided)
Employer Information Sessions – Main Campus
Employer Information Sessions are open to all students. Please note that some sessions are open to both graduating and co-op/internship students, while others are for graduating students only.
Be sure to register for the info session that you will be attending.
Changes to Undergraduate Student Email - Mass move of all Undergraduate Students:
At the conclusion of the Winter 2017 term, all undergraduate students who have not yet activated their Office 365 accounts will be migrated from mailservices to Office 365 automatically. There may be a small window when you will be unable to log into your email accounts while your Office 365 account is being activated and your mailservices account is being moved. You will not lose any email sent to you @uwaterloo.ca. We will be able to provide you with more specific times of email unavailability closer to the move date.
Important dates for ALL Undergraduate Students:
- April 26 - ALL undergraduate students will have their email forwarding changed to @edu.uwaterloo.ca, and they will no longer be able to change this in WatIAm. Students may setup forwarding rules from within Office 365 to forward to an off-campus account. However, please be aware that the University is currently reviewing the email forwarding policy.
Important dates for Undergraduate Students still using MailServices:
- April 3 - The Opt-in student-activation of Office 365 will end, anyone remaining will be bulk moved at the end of the term.
If you are using the Opt-in option before the bulk move and would like help to activate your account and migrate your mail
- April 26 – Your forwarding address in WatIAM will be changed to email@example.com and a final sync of your mailbox to Office 365 will be completed
- To access your email after this use: https://portal.office.com using firstname.lastname@example.org
- Your Mailservices account will be disabled

In addition to the existing project rooms and open spaces that are open to all students for study and collaborative work, we would like to encourage you to use the following spaces as well on a first come first served basis:

Busing for students living in Stratford
In addition to the regular Tuesday and Friday shuttles, which are open to all students space permitting, we will provide the following service on a trial basis for this term. The bus service will begin with one small bus per return trip (24 passengers):
- Departure Stratford Campus 5:15PM - Arrival UW Campus 6pm (Drop and pick up in Waterloo at the Hagey Hall bus layover)
- Departure UW Campus 11pm - Arrival Stratford Campus 11:45PM
- Departure Stratford Campus 11am - Arrival UW Campus 11:45AM
- Departure UW Campus 7PM - Arrival Stratford Campus 7:45PM
There is no charge for this service and no sign-up is required (it is on a first come- first serve basis).
3rd Floor Quiet Room
Please remember that this space is for QUIET study and work. There are many spaces on campus available for groups to gather and for students to socialize.
The Quiet Room is for those that wish to study independently in a quiet atmosphere.
Smoking on campus
A reminder that smoking is not permitted at the front entrance of our campus, and those smoking must be at least 10ft from all other entrance doors to the building. With the winter weather, it has been noticed that students are smoking under the overhang at the front doors – this is not permitted.

Community Logo Design Competition
Stratford ON: Use your design skills to create a community logo that Stratford community groups, agencies, sports associations, teams and businesses can use or incorporate into their existing logos and brands!
Representatives of the City’s 2017 Sesquicentennial Ad-Hoc Committee, Communities in Bloom Advisory Committee, Heritage Stratford and Stratford’s of the World Ontario Committee are offering you this exciting contest opportunity to create a community logo.
The purpose of the contest is to design a community logo that can be used by Stratford based groups. The community logo can be used online, in print, on uniforms and jerseys. Flexibility is a key requirement in the design of the community logo.
The design of a community logo is not to replace the City of Stratford’s Dramatically Different logo which will continue to be used as the corporate identity for City Departments. The community logo is an additional option for community groups to use to create a consistent brand and to create awareness of Stratford.
Designs for a community logo can be hand-drawn but must be submitted electronically along with a completed Entry Form. Contest rules and entry form are attached.
You could win:
- Recognition by the City for your design
- A framed sample of your winning design
- Cash prizes:
- 1st Place - $1,000
- 2nd Place - $500
- 3rd Place - $250
The Deadline for submitting entries is before 4:30 p.m. March 31, 2017.

Climate Change Game Jam @ WLU
Create Games, Combat Climate Change, & Apply for a Summer Job All At One Jam
Are you interested in helping to change the world through games? The Brantford Games Network lab (BGNlab) at Wilfrid Laurier University is hosting a Climate Change Game Jam on March 18th and 19th with funding from the Government of Ontario. There are two ways you can participate:
1. Ontario university and college students who are in game-related programs:
Join us at the Brantford Games Network lab (BGNlab), which is on the Wilfrid Laurier University campus in downtown Brantford, for two-days of creating games that combat climate change. Following the jam, 12 students (2 of which can be graduate students) will have the opportunity to work at the BGNlab throughout the summer of 2017 to fully develop prototypes from the ideas generated from this game jam. These will be paid positions, 20 hours a week for 12 weeks, in Brantford, Ontario. Applications for these summer positions will be taken at the Game Jam and interviews and portfolio reviews will take place during the Jam. If possible, all of the positions will be filled by students who attend the Game Jam. Sign up and find more info here.
2. Schools, libraries, family, and friends across the world:
You can host a remote site and join in on the jam from your school, library, game store, or even your home! A site could be a class, a group of friends, a game lab, a family, or just you! We will be livestreaming our initial briefing at 9AM EST on Saturday, March 18. We will also record it, so if you can't join us live, you will have it available. We will also be sending out other briefing materials prepared by the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change. Then you'll be off to make games that can change the world! These can be digital, analog, or live action games. Sign up as a remote site here.

Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) Schedule for Winter 2017
To continue giving our Global Business and Digital Arts students a superior advantage, you can complete the requirements for the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification as part of the program.
To achieve the CAPM certification issued by the Project Management Institute, you need to fulfill the following requirements:
A secondary degree (high school diploma or the global equivalent) AND
At least 1,500 hours of project experience OR
23 hours of project management education by the time you sit for the exam administered by the Project Management Institute.
At the University of Waterloo Stratford Campus certified project managers will offer the required 23 hours of project management education. The Project Management modules will be taught in addition and as part of the existing curriculum. You'll also have the opportunity to practice what you learned during your team-based industry projects.

If you are an undergraduate student:
Submit an Intention to Graduate form to the Office of the Registrar according to the deadlines listed below once your degree requirements have been met and you have verified your eligibility to graduate.
- December 1 for spring convocation if degree requirements are completed during the fall term
- March 1 for spring convocation

Writing regularly helps with productivity and motivation. The Writing Centre is offering weekly group writing sessions for grad students. These loosely-structured events are designed to help grad students connect to a larger writing community, to stay focused, and to keep making writing progress.
We break these two hours into 25-minute writing sessions divided by 5-minute breaks, following the Pomodoro technique. This technique has lots of benefits. Check it out!
We’ll provide free coffee, tea, and snacks. Just come and write!
