The Origins of Pi Day

The value of Pi, while a solid number, 3.14 (and hence why it is celebrated on March 14th) still carries an air of mystery due to the seemingly infinite number of decimal places that follow 3.14. Those missing digits are a puzzle to be solved, and with no discernable pattern in those numbers, it can not be guessed at, it requires applied calculation. So we settle for 3.14.
