Second year students Rudi Chen and Shida Li have emerged victorious from the 27-hour Nokia Imaging Hackathon in Lund, Sweden. The Computer Science and Software Engineering students, respectively, brought their idea of a Smart Resizing app to life alongside 10 other experienced teams of developers from all over the world.
The uWaterloo team’s winning app allows the user to edit or remove the unimportant sections of a photo while maintaining the rest of the image. The app will be promoted by Nokia and on the Windows Phone Store, and Rudi and Shida will receive the Nokia Lumia 1020 and a trip to an upcoming Nokia event featuring their app.
