Nine eateries on campus for you to discover

Science CnD Window Art

Alright, so it’s the middle of the term.  And at this point, we’re all a little tired:  Tired of studying, tired of waking up for morning classes, and tired of the same food and drinks we grab on campus when we reach the middle of the day.  So, why not freshen up your routine a little bit?

No, this blog post won’t be advising you on how to literally freshen up.  I’m here to remind you of UWaterloo’s best hidden secrets – food and drink edition.  Whether you’ve never heard of these eateries or just haven’t had the time to try them out, here are a few locations that I’d like to recommend to you!

PAS Lounge.

Unless you have a reason to go there, nobody really visits PAS.  Yet, I think the PAS Lounge is a hidden gem.  Tucked in the third floor of the building (room 3005), this lounge is home to some quality coffee, tea, grab’n’go snacks and delicious baked goods.  Alongside that, there’s also some study space – and several couches for when you need a quick and peaceful nap.  It’s the perfect quiet getaway.

ML’s Diner.

No – not Mel’s Diner.  ML stands for Modern Languages, and it’s one of the buildings situated around the Arts Quad!  Even though it’s not necessarily Mel’s, they do indeed serve dishes which are quite similar.  Located on the lowest floor of ML, stop by for some heavenly burgers, poutine, and breakfast food!  They also make a mean milkshake – my favourite’s the strawberry-flavoured one.  P.S.  There’s a Tim Hortons right beside the diner, in case you ever want to skip the line in SCH.

CEIT Café.

CEIT Cafe Who doesn’t want to study with dinosaurs?  Head on over to the CEIT Café, on the ground floor of EIT for some fresh pastries, sandwiches, soups, and caffeine.  Settle down in a nearby table, and get ready to have your breath taken away by the scenic Earth Sciences museum – aesthetically pleasing and historical!

Eye Opener Café.

You probably have little reason to visit the Optometry building – unless you’re an optometry student, that is.  Now’s the time to change that!  The Eye Opener Café, located on the ground floor of the Optometry building, has a vast selection of tasty coffee and exquisite panini sandwiches.

Did you know that most faculties have their own C&D?

Science CnDFaculty C&D’s (short for Coffee and Donuts) are usually the cheapest places on campus to grab a cup of coffee, tea and some pastries right before class.  Here’s a list for you to try out around campus:

  • the Engineering C&D in CPH
  • the Science C&D in B1 160
  • the Math C&D on the 3rd floor of MC
  • the Environment ES Coffee Shop in EV1 138
  • the Arts Student Union tuck shop on the ground floor of AL

Whether you’re up for some diner food or just interested in a new location to pick up a fresh cup of coffee, there’s something new for each of you to try out!
