Douglas LustedEnvironment and Business student makes Forbes 30 Under 30 list

“This is the time to be young and ambitious,” writes Forbes at the beginning of their 30 Under 30 list, featuring young prodigies who are innovating 15 different fields of industry. This year, uWaterloo has made a fair contribution to the list, including 21-year old Environment and Business student Douglas Lusted.

Douglas is the chief executive officer (CEO) of WestonExpressions, the company that developed Linkett. Linkett is a device that encourages interactive advertising by enabling digital screens to collect information about consumers as they pass advertising displays. When the screen detects a consumer, it can then change the digital content of its display to suit that specific person.

Douglas has always focused on his entrepreneurial pursuits at uWaterloo; in the past he has participated in the Enterprise Co-op program at the Conrad Business, Entrepreneurship and Technology Centre. WestonExpressions took off in Douglas’ second year when he won the University of Waterloo’s Innovation Showcase and the Velocity Fund, and then he hit the ground running.

Two uWaterloo alumni join Douglas Lusted in the Forbes 30 Under 30 this year; Kik Interactive Inc. founder Ted Livingston and Eric Migicovsky, CEO of Pebble. You can read more about Douglas’ success on Waterloo StoriesImprint, and of course, Forbes.
