THE UNION celebrates their first sustainable fashion exhibition

On September 30, Project: Trashion hosted their first sustainable fashion show titled: THE UNION. The newly founded University of Waterloo club was created by students, volunteers, and friends who shared the same initiative to reduce waste and make an impact on the environment through art.

Fashion for Change Dance

Long hours, persistent planning and undeniable passion are all in a day’s work for the members of Fashion for Change. Started in 2010, the Feds club’s mission is to provide the opportunity for students to express their artistic interests and talents through fundraising events showcasing fashion design, dance and much more. This mission is fulfilled through the hosting of their Annual Charity Fashion Show along with additional events such as coffeehouses and dance and modeling workshops.

Turning an idea into an e-boutique opportunity

Rose Athena is an e-boutique that allows women to put together their own personalized dresses and to purchase them online. Customers can choose from over 2,500 dress designs, each garment handcrafted from quality materials and tailored specifically to their style and form, including neckline, sleeve length, and hemline.

Engineering students launch socially conscious clothing company

“Everybody wears clothes, but not everyone will support a social cause, “ says graduating Mechanical Engineering student Aleks Poldma, but he and his classmate Spencer Kelly set out to change that last year. The duo wants to turn the average consumer into a social benefactor and they plan to do that with Hydrated World, a clothing company that donates money to the Safe Water Project in Africa for every five items sold.

uWaterloo student’s magazine celebrates hidden talents

Victoria Stacey, a third-year Arts student, has been busy this summer and now she’s ready to share her passion through a new magazine. Passion8 launched digitally on September 1 and will be released in print for purchase later this month.
