How much do you really know about the creepy crawlers in your backyard? Yes, we are talking about earthworms. PhD student Michael McTavish is somewhat of an expert on this subject. In fact, he is conducting research to understand the impact that exotic earthworms have on our ecosystem.

Rachel McDonald's co-op job is paying off in more ways than one, after spending a work term researching the accomplishments of co-op students who came before her.

The Health Studies students recently completed her first co-op term with the Sunnybrook Research Institute where she not only authored a research paper, but was also able to see the finished results published in the  Journal of Cancer Education.

A Chemical Engineering student ranked among 10 finalists in a biomedical research challenge this past weekend, competing for the chance to win a $10,000 grand prize.

Matthew Vonk, an Applied Health Sciences masters student, competed with nine other graduate students at the campus-wide 3 Minute Thesis Competition last Thursday and secured first place along with the People’s Choice Award for his presentation that connects physical exercise with mental health.

PhD Math student helps surgeons correct skull deformities in infants

André Linhares, a 24-year-old PhD student in the Faculty of Mathematics, is working with surgeons at Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children to help ensure the best possible outcome for infants who undergo skull surgery.

uWaterloo student shares the story of games studies

Steve Wilcox, a uWaterloo PhD student, wants you to know the importance of video games. He’s sharing the story of Professor Neil Randall’s work with Interactive and Multi-Modal Experience Research Syndicate (IMMERSe) in the games studies field, and it’s earned him a spot as one of the top five storytellers in the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council’s (SSHRC) Research for a Better Life: The Storytellers.
