The Student Success Office is seeking facilitators to deliver workshops for the Student Leadership Program (SLP), and the Foundational Training Program (FTP). Workshops for both programs are delivered to current undergraduate and graduate students. Facilitators will lead interactive activities and guide conversations to engage participants throughout the workshop.

Nature and Scope
Foundational Training Program (FTP):

The Foundational Training Program is delivered to students who work with a peer program at the University of Waterloo. This training program will prepare peer leaders and mentors with foundational mentoring skills that are critical to mentorship success but also contribute to their workplace preparedness.

FTP is comprised of two parts: an online course through LEARN, and a two-hour in-person workshop. The online course consists of readings, videos, handouts, discussion questions, and quizzes. The in-person workshop is designed for participants to practice their mentoring skills through scenario role playing, group discussions, and other interactive activities. Facilitators are responsible for delivering the in person component of the training program.

Student Leadership Program (SLP)

The Student Leadership Program is a series of 12 experiential workshops for current Waterloo students (undergraduate and graduate). The intent of the workshops is to help students explore and refine their leadership skills, and put them into practice. The workshops are offered on main campus during the fall, winter and spring terms. Each workshop is 2 hours in length and is led by two facilitators. Facilitation of the SLP is an excellent leadership opportunity for students, giving them the opportunity to collaborate and network with a variety of students across campus from different academic disciplines. In addition, you will have the opportunity to personally develop your leadership, facilitation and communication skills in a supported and inclusive environment.
