DESCRIPTION:Emancipation Kick Up is a vibrant gathering rooted in reflectio
 n\,\ncommunity\, and forward movement. As Black students at the University
 \nof Waterloo\, we come together to honor the legacy of those who came\nbe
 fore us—individuals whose vision of emancipation extended beyond\nfreedo
 m toward a future shaped by access\, opportunity\, and\nself-determination
 . Their dream lives on in the spaces we now occupy\,\nand our presence in 
 higher education is a continuation of that vision.\nThis event recognizes 
 the significance of simply being\nhere—learning\, growing\, and building
  pathways that were once out of\nreach—while creating a space for reflec
 tion\, connection\, food\, and\ngames as we come together in community.
