Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI) system

The Survey Research Centre call centre relies on the Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI) system from the Canadian company Voxco. The CATI system provides high level sample management, call scheduling, quota control, disposition monitoring and call management. It allows us to monitor interviewer productivity by phone and computer screen.

Our in-house server provides security and protection for all our data. We have a mirrored back-up server for data protection. The University of Waterloo Information Systems & Technology department provides a secondary back-up system so that no data is ever lost and security is assured.

Partnership with Institutional Analysis & Planning

The Survey Research Centre has partnered with Institutional Analysis & Planning (IAP) to develop and administer several campus-wide surveys to students, alumni, faculty, and staff.

The Student Experience Survey, the first survey administered through this partnership, aims to understand students' perceptions of their academic and non-academic learning environments and their experience at the University of Waterloo. These topics are explored through questions engaging students in subject matter about their general well-being, perceived efficacy of various instructional modalities and learning supports, and opinions on various strategic initiatives.
