  • In the summer of 2021, TRANSFORM, in partnership with the UNDRR LAC regional office, ARISE Mexico, and ARISE Colombia networks, invited a group of Masters and PhD students to participate in the Summer School-Internship project. The aim of the project was to map and document the diverse types of practices and business models of national SMEs, provide strategic support to help SMEs contribute to sustainability, understand disaster risk reduction, and study resilience-building in local communities. The five month initiative offered students the opportunity to gain research experience and learn from a team of transdisciplinary academics through online lectures and case study development. The case studies developed by students informed national reports on SME sustainability and generated data for advancing knowledge of the emerging practices of the private sector in Mexico and Colombia.
  • On April 6th, SPROUT lab received the news that director Sarah Burch has been selected to be a Lead Author on @IPCC_CH 6th Assessment Report, Working Group III (Mitigation), Chapter 17 (Accelerating the Transition in the Context of Sustainable Development.   • The GATE project report presents results from a survey of sustainability in small-and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Toronto and Vancouver. The results point to an untapped potential of small businesses to contribute to environmental and social wellbeing in our communities.
