Abstract

A recycling audit of the colleges and residences at the University of Waterloo has never been conducted. This is due to the fact that the Region of Waterloo has been responsible for the pick-up and disposal of the recycling products produced at the colleges and residences. Because of this, there is little to no background information on the amount and proportions of recycling products produced and disposed of. With the looming possibility of the Region of Waterloo relinquishing responsibility of this service, this information is vital in assessing the costs versus the benefits that would be associated with this possibility. It is for this purpose that this audit and analysis of the recycling at the University colleges and residences was undertaken.
