SUMMARY:Tip of the iceberg: a systems approach to understanding food\ninsec
 urity in northern Canada
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:Northern Canada is home to approximately 120 remote Indigenous
\ncommunities where the only way in or out is by air. The price of food\,\
nespecially nutritious or perishable foods\, can be extreme—a typical\nh
ousehold of two adults and two children spends an average of $2\,800\non f
ood per month. Unsurprisingly\, between 24 and 68% of each\ncommunity expe
riences some form of food insecurity compared to the\nCanada-wide average
 of 13%.
